Description

This artwork is mixed media, involving oil paint, textile collage, and crystal embellishments. I began this project with a feeling I knew I wanted to express, though, the uncertainty laid in how that feeling would present itself. I trusted my intuition in unraveling this feeling into a completed expression. This piece holds significance to me; the beginning of a new journey, the start of a series to be. 

A tug of war between play and perfectionism, the process was both daunting and liberating. The serious, critical mind is challenged by the shamelessly expressive aura. Stiff, the girl sits there raw and vulnerable as the world dances around her. She longs to join the dance but is held in place by the shadows grasp. A window exposes her to the weight of being perceived, judged, and limited. Her gaze fixated on her desires, to express wildly and lovingly, to be free.
